Yes because I'm friend with one after an 8 year relationship. But it only works if you guys broke up where no one screw each other over.

No, they will never have time for you afterwards and the new person will be taking up the time. I have had exes low key try and sway me back with photos etc. without actually saying it but I am not stupid and was insulting than flattering 🙄
