Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard about Adele. At 28, this Grammy-winning British singer as three studio albums to her name, and a massive fan following. But, even as an internationally famous celebrity, Adele did not find relationship success quickly.
Adele’s second album, 21, which was released in 2010, is full of deep emotions concerning love- making it an instant hit with the public. So, it should be no surprise that it was written during a 3-month period after a bad breakup with an older man. But, the exact time and length of the relationship is fairly unclear as she was never pictured with this mystery heartbreaker during the potential two-year window. James Corden, Mark Ronson, Jamie Reynolds, and Slinky Sunbeam have all been speculated to be the subject of songs such as “Someone Like You,” but each relationship has been denied. Others believe the songs may be about her absent and recovering alcoholic father, who she had a bad relationship with.
Now, 6 years later, Adele has released her newest album, 25, with nearly a million copies sold in a single day. Even with the songs being about breakups at bad relationships once again, her love life is looking up. She has been with Simon Konecki, CEO of the UK-based charity Drop4drop, since 2011 and couldn’t be happier. The couple even welcomed a son in 2012, but they have taken great care to protect the toddler from the spotlight.
When asked about her relationship, Adele explains that this new relationship has become the core of who she is, and has inspired a great deal of her new work. She agreed that she and Konecki’s relationship can be considered “the ultimate love story” as a result of the loyalty and compassion they share for each other.
Konecki is not bothered by the lyrics in his girlfriend’s songs and strongly supports her in her work- which just helps to strengthen their relationship. She explained in an interview that he loves her more than anything. Adele has been firm in her stance that Konecki and their son have had a powerful and incredibly positive impact on her life. Without them, she would possibly be at a very different place mentally and emotionally.
Just as Konecki has shown an overwhelming support for Adele’s work, Adele has made strides to help his charity which brings access to clean water to people in developing countries. She has taken advantage of her millions of followers on social media to encourage them to support the charity. If that is not the great foundation for a long and happy relationship, what is?
Adele is currently preparing for her North American tour, set to officially start in July. With 97 different awards to her name as of 2016, this new tour is no doubt set to make massive sales, especially after the craze “Hello” created when she first announced her new album.
